Good Day Families,

Oakwood Avenue Community School is excited to welcome you to our Black History Month Celebration on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1:30 PM. This year, all students will play a part in the celebration. 

Student Attire for the Performance
Students are asked to wear all black (black top and black bottom).

• No letters or designs
• No hoodies
• No sweatpants
• Black sneakers, if available, are encouraged

Also, On Monday, February 9th, your child will come home with a white sheet of paper to create a Family Pictorial Collage. Please create a family photo collage using meaningful pictures that represent your family. These collages will be displayed as part of a gallery walk to honor the families of Oakwood Avenue Community School. All family collages are due to your child’s teacher by Monday, February 23rd.

We are excited to celebrate 100 years of Black History Month and to honor the legacy of Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the founder of Black History Month. We look forward to honoring our students, families, and community together.
